Content Items

Content items (with the exception of static content items) are contained within categories and sections.  This allows for the organization and grouping of content.

quicktipsFor a professional looking content item, limit number of font styles and colors.  Keep font sizes smaller for paragraph content.  To insert images, use the insert image tool.  Do not try to copy and paste images into content items.

Before creating a content item, therefore, you might want to create a new category and/or a new section, first.  For example:  You want to create the first content item in what will become one in a series of daily devotions.  Over a period of time you will have many of this type of items and you decide you want to keep them all in one category called Devotions in a Section Called Teaching.

For directions on how to create a new category and section, see Creating A New Category & Section .

Now that you have either created a new category/section or decided to use an existing one, you may proceed to create a content item.

From the back end of your site, click on the Content > All Content Items

Click on the new button.

Give your new content a title by typing in the title box.  Ttile alias is not a required field.

Choose a section from the section drop down box.

Choose a category from the category drop down box.

Type your content into the text box, or if you have your content already in a file, you can copy/paste to the text box to save time.  If *copying and pasting from a Word document or another application that has a lot of formatting, you may choose to use the Insert Word Document or Insert as Plain Text tools from the top row of text editing tools above the text box.

*Note:  Images will not copy into your content using copy/paste method.  To insert images into a content item, see section, "Insert An Image Into a Content Item"

From the Parameters Tab (to the right of the text box) you may choose options such as, to show or not show Page Title, Category Title and  Section Title.

quicktipsTo see how your content item looks on the front end without closing the item in the back end, click the Apply Button rather than the Save Button.

When you are happy with how the content item looks, click the save button in the toolbar.

If you have linked the content to a menu item, the menu item will appear in one of your side columns as a menu item.

Note:  You may change the order of your menu items by going to:  Menu > mainmenu.  Use the reorder buttons to rearrange the menu items.

If you have chosen the item to show on the front page, you will see it in the center of your screen on your front page.  Note:  You may change the order of your front page articles by going to Content > Frontpage Manager.  Use the reorder buttons to rearrange the content items.
